About QueerCast
QueerCast is the most recent undertaking of Olian Fitzsimmons (aka Oli Fitzs). Created as part of his Audio & Music Production BSc final year project, QueerCast is a new podcast, aimed to provide another resource on the LGBTQ+ community. Whilst currently, only 3 episodes long, QueerCast covers the basics of sexuality, what it means to be trans and how Universities (and other institutions) can be allies to the queer community.
Episode 1 covers the topic of sexuality and breaks down the common misconceptions associated with each. Episode 2 covers what it means to be trans and what it feels like to go through the process of learning of one's transness. Finally, episode 3 switches up the format with as the first half of a 2 part discussion around how to be an ally as a university.
About Oli Fitzs
Hello! I'm Olian Fitzsimmons aka Oli Fitzs, a 21 year old trans masc, queer, asexual and my pronouns are they/he. As of 2022 I am a 1st class Audio and Music Production graduate of Liverpool John Moores University. During my final year at LJMU I was also the Trans + Non-Binary Part-Time Officer for the Student's Union (JMSU).
When advised to focus my final year project on a passion, my first thought was something to do with the LGBTQ+ community. Taking my love for helping people, educating people on queer topics and the rise in podcast consumption over the last few years, lead to the conception of QueerCast. I am the soul creator of QueerCast from planning, hosting and production to graphic design and website design/creation.
My aim is to create a platform that aids the queer community in multiple ways. From easily digestible podcast episodes to online resources like the QueerCast website. I hope my podcast's allows one to broaden their knowledge on different experiences, stats, our history, troubles, achievements and ways to support us or to hear stories and experiences that you may find relatable.
I hope you enjoy everything QueerCast has to offer and I look forward to hopefully being able to carry on this venture in the future!
